The COVID-19 pandemic has put a halt to many community activities, but the spirit of caring and sharing continues. Volunteers and non-profit organizations are still doing their part to ensure that our neighbourhoods remain strong.
Casera established the Community Awards in 2016 to recognize the excellent work that individuals and community-focused groups do for the benefit of us all. This year, we want to acknowledge their hard work in these challenging times.
“We all know someone who selflessly volunteers their time or a community group that works especially hard,”says Brent Thomas, Casera’s CEO. “We want to recognize their efforts for staying engaged under difficult circumstances and continuing to make our neighbourhoods vibrant and hopeful places.”
The Casera Community Awards honour the work of people and organizations that benefit us all. There are two categories, Community Leadership Awards for volunteers and Community Enrichment Awards for non-profit groups. In 2020, Denis Gautron received a Leadership Award for his unrelenting and inspiring work with Save Our Seine River Environment Inc., and Community Enrichment Awards were presented to the Board of Directors, Transcona Jaycees Day Care Centre Inc. and Save Our Seine River Environment Inc.
“Every year, we’re proud to present awards to the community builders of Transcona and St. Vital, says Thomas. “We’re looking forward to seeing who this year’s recipients will be.”
